The reaction to the pull thru thumb break Colt Cobra holster I posted earlier this week has been very positive so I thought I’d post something along the same lines again. This time for a 5 inch no rail 1911.
This is my take on the classic inside the waist band style holster but with a twist. For this one the customer wanted a bit of extra retention but didn’t want the traditional thumb break release. After some research I found that one of the old school leather holster masters, Lou Alessi, had used what he called a pull thru retention. This style provides extra securement and allows for both a one handed draw and re holstering as I find the snap can be secured with one hand and without the need to look down at the holster.
For 2025 I intend to explore this concept more on both belt holsters and even on my shoulder holster designs. I really think it has some positive attributes especially on shoulder holsters.
The holster pictured above was done rough out which both helps keep the holster in place but as the smooth side of the leather is toward the gun it helps minimize finish wear and speeds the draw up just a bit. This custom order was dyed black and finished off with blue stitching.
This holster can be built for over 200 guns at this point and in numerous leather and stitching colors. We can even provide models done in horse hide! If you have an idea for a custom rig send us a message or call and we sill do all we can to make it a reality!
Melissa and I want to again thank you for all the support it is deeply appreciated!
Thanks Again,
Melissa and Eric
